About | The Artsy Craftsy

The Artsy Craftsy doesn't fit in ONE specific box. Our goal is simple:- to foster meaningful creative living.

What is The Artsy Craftsy

The Artsy Craftsy is a multi-media creative lifestyle business by Shia Lynn Victor- a Malaysian artist and creator, to empower fellow creatives, makers and seekers with its collection of creative living ideas, tips and inspiration.

Becoming The Artsy Craftsy

Founded in 2008, Shia Lynn was determined to start The Artsy Craftsy after noticing there were no Malaysian website or blogs that covered the creative niche such as arts & crafts and handmade.

At first, the idea was to document her own creative exploration and to support those who were embarking on a similar self-discovery journey. She covered topics on creativity and how it helped her lead a fulfilling life.

As the blog grew, Shia Lynn became actively involved in the creative arts and handmade landscape and continued to empower people to find joy through creating. Shia Lynn also featured like-minded people in the scene, mainly Malaysian artists, creators and makers.

In 2014, Shia Lynn entered The Artsy Craftsy in the DiGi WWWOW Awards Malaysia and was selected as one of the Top 10 finalists in the content category. Finally, in 2015, The Artsy Craftsy became a full-fledge platform to cultivate creativity through its curated content and community engagement.

We give thanks to the support of some of our fans-turned-friends, because of them The Artsy Craftsy remains one of the most go-to names in the Malaysian arts and crafts community

We believe in small wins everyday! Thanks to the pandemic, the year 2021 marked as an awakening for The Artsy Craftsy to embrace change. From a hobby blog that was created in a little dingy room, to a platform that curates and educates- today, we have come full circle in cultivating a creative living.

Meet Shia Lynn!

Hello! I am Shia Lynn, creator of The Artsy Craftsy. I find joy in cultivating creativity for personal growth. When it comes to the creative arts and handmade landscape, I can be pretty resourceful and I enjoy sharing what I know with growing artists and crafters.

In 2008, I created The Artsy Craftsy as a blogging space for me to document my creative journey, whether it is through painting, crafting, writing, or even networking with the local artists & crafters, to balance my full-time position as a Copywriter. In 2015, I left my job to commit to the creative path.

As a creative, I wear many hats: I am an artist, a creator and a community builder; I co-organise creative lifestyle events at Craft Affair and occasionally, I guide  / facilitate creative self-expression workshops.

My early involvement in the creative scene began when I was only an advertising major in college when I started my first freelance fabric painting service:- in 2005, I went from hand-painting t-shirts to hand-painting bridal wear and evening gowns, including experiencing my first wearable art fashion shows and landed clients like La Senza, Dragonfly Tattoo and Wondermilk. This planted the seed in the creation of The Artsy Craftsy, and eventually led me to pursue a path in empowering creativity, as I furthered my learning experience through certified courses in Fabric Painting and Therapeutic Art Life Coaching.

To date, it has been more than a decade since my active involvement in Malaysia's creative scene.
