Educational Food, Fun and Arcade Games for the Family
Being the kind of person that grew up on video games being an obsession, this has been a lovely opportunity for me to revisit that childlike excitement! The gamer in me started off with the food education categories for this review but naturally gravitated toward the shooting & racing games that were also included on this awesome site!
This progressive culinary school has included a vast variety of games that provide both educational aspects and entertainment for everyone to enjoy! The games are virtually playable on most devices as they are mostly flash HTML5 based games.
Here is a list of the games I played at Culinary Schools, my thoughts on them, based on the in-game perspective & links directly to each of these games. We begin with the Food Education category then move on Arcade Games & Sports Games and I left my favourite game experience for last!

Food Education Games
Tom & Jerry Show River Recycle
Growing up in the 80’s & 90’s I was thrilled to see an iconic household name show up. How nostalgic as I am sure most people my age are familiar with Tom & Jerry. It’s pretty cool how this game keeps it simple with just a claw game dynamic, with some power ups that you earn to help you along the way. The educational aspect of this game is that it teaches kids to differentiate between items that are recyclable and those that are not, as the objective of the game is to time the claw to pick up the items that then get flung into the recycling machine. The power ups are like fish food, that help get the fish out of the way, & scissors to cut the seaweed - so that the claw does not end up grabbing these items instead.

Fast Food Combat
This was so cute! The first thing that caught my attention was that the characters in this game looked like the worms in the game Worms! I spent a good deal of time in my teens playing that game. The game works in a very simple way as food appears and based on the player’s reaction time, the first person who clicks the button makes their way to the center to get the food. The tricky part is that some of the foods have gone bad, or are hazardous, which can either slow your reaction time down or downright incapacitate you. The health bar also moves up or down based on the food you consume. The educational aspect does teach kids on a very surface level to differentiate between food that is good for you, or food that slows you down and deplete your health.

Idle Farming Business
This was one that I did not thoroughly enjoy, only because it is a “mouse clicker”. You move your mouse over different plots of vegetables that are being farmed and click ‘em as fast as you possibly can to claim the harvests. I guess the educational aspects come from the different types of vegetables being in different plot sizes and that sort of thing, but unfortunately the game did not resonate with me, and I quickly found myself moving on to the next one.

Pizza Shop
I find myself asking the question if this was named correctly, as it really was more fruit pie than pizzas that were being served. Customers show up, make an order, and it deviates from the shape of crust to which fruit filling is ordered. The thing is each part of it has a timer, and if you are late to deliver on each part, the customer gets impatient and walks away. Each action also requires you to click to activate the action, so this really does put your reaction time and movement planning to the test! For example, if a customer walks away and you already have his order in your hand, now you have to walk to the bin, to free up that hand so you can move on to the next order! It can get pretty challenging and chaotic the more you level up.

The educational aspects here are more nuanced, as it starts off with matching shape and type but then goes on to time management, planning and prioritising movement.
Ultra Pixel Burgeria
This was profoundly nostalgic for me. The visuals and graphics transported me back in time to when 8-bit video games were the hottest things around! It was what drew me to this game and what kept me engaged for some time. Even the instructions given by the chef and how that rolled out really reminded me of the text based dialogues and how games during that era had a certain vibe. The gameplay is simple and detailed as you are a burger flipper, who has to manage mincing the meat, making the buns from scratch & serving the drinks. The educational aspects of this game is really in following instructions and learning how to manage and prioritize your actions and time. Having to pay attention to multiple things at the same time, like not burning the items on the stove, while rolling out the completed order.

I had a great time with this one! Play it here!
Arcade Games
Duck Shoot
Duck Shoot was fun! It felt like you were at a fair or amusement park and this is the shooting game! It gets quite quick, but just a couple of rounds in and you start to realise that it is pretty capped. You just try to outdo yourself by getting the highest possible score. Simple and fun!

No More Rum
This was under a shooter game, but it was very much more like finding angles - like one would do trying to do trick shots or bank shots on the pool table. It was interesting & sometimes frustrating as finding the right angles for the bullets to bounce around and find its way to the bottles was a challenge. Pretty fun & there is an educational aspect to it too!

Sports Games
Drift Boss
This was by far the hardest game here for me. I kept retrying though, I do like racing / drifting games but this was insane, I could barely last the first 15 seconds. So simplified to just a single way to control the game, yet it was so challenging!

Stick Archery
This was incredible! I was so engaged in it and really enjoyed it so much that it was the only game I saw through to complete all 36 levels! There are some levels where multiple of the opponents have a timer as well so you have to take out multiples of them before they take a shot at you - and they rarely miss! The educational aspects of this game are understanding the momentum of the arrow when it has been released from the bow. The tension changes based on the angle that you have it pulled as well, so there are some pretty tricky shots to navigate especially when the opponent is being blocked by the structures and a simple shot will not do the trick.

All in all, I had heaps of fun, and am grateful that there is this site where I can access these easy going games that can be played on most devices. Fast load times and easy controls make it very accessible anytime, anywhere. The variety of games to choose from is astounding! There is something here for everyone, kids and yes, grandma & grandpa too!
